Sandra May Snetsinger (nee Sanders)

SANDRA MAY SNETSINGER (née SANDERS)

April 19, 1935 – June 25, 2013

On June 25th, Sandra passed away peacefully at her home on Salt Spring Island with her devoted partner Roland Arnet and family by her side. Sandra’s love of family and food were a basis of many family gatherings. She lived life well! Sandra had homes in Ontario, where she raised four children with her late husband Hugh (Nov. 12 / 1980). She then moved on to Cape Breton, where she made many new friends and acquaintances. Finally she settled in B.C., where she maintained a home and fiber arts studio on Salt Spring Island, while living with Roly in Tofino. She always said “I need to see the ocean and have beaches to walk on!” Sandra was an ardent supporter of the CBC, the environment, Canadian literature and music. Bubbi as her grandchildren knew her “had a sensitive understanding of people. She loved deeply with a certain affection for the underdog. Her non-judgmental character grew from a long life in witness of the trials and troubles we endure, and thus maintained a greater inclination to accept us all. A great reader of books, a keen learner and lover of all things art, she looked for beauty in everything, exuding glamour and grace herself, yet always unassuming. She was a woman proud of her family and so content with her life, she kept the most important things close.”

Sandra will be missed deeply by Roly, her dog Fika, her children Dewey (Margaret), Laura (Graeme), Paula, Michael (Allison), her four grandchildren Nicholas, Hannah, Madeline and Jackson, and all those she touched and treated as family. There will be a celebration of Sandra’s life between 2 and 5 Sunday Sept. the 8th at the Legion Hall in Tofino. In lieu of flowers a donation to cancer research or a charity of

your choice would be appreciated.
