Mabel
Wilson
JULY 23, 1923 – APRIL 17, 2012
Our beautiful Mom Mabel died quietly and peacefully at sun-up. Born in Hartney, Manitoba to Joe and Annie Dooley, she lived most of her adult life in Sask., mainly Regina, before moving to Salt Spring Island in 2008. She had a wonderful life full of love, devotion to family, work for Sask. Department of Highways, dancing, golfing, curling, enjoying her many friends and her 23 retirement winters in Arizona. She battled devastating effects of ALS for the last 3 1/2 years before succumbing to influenza and pneumonia.
Family was everything to her. She was predeceased by her loving and much-loved husband Alex in 1997, brother Jim and sister Mary. She was loved and will be missed by her son Ed (Marian) Wilson, her daughter Bev (Terry) Bolton, grandchildren Kirsten Bolton, Devon (Kathy) Bolton, Shelley (Rob) Holben, and Robert (Lisa) Wilson and by great -grandchildren Courtenay and McKenzie Bolton and Ethan Holben. Also survived by brothers Joe (Jenny) Dooley and Ernie (Cheryl) Dooley and sisters Jean (Frank) Jezzard, Anne Laurent, and Dorothy (Gord) Burgess. With her struggles over, we like to think she is golfing and waltzing with Dad again.
Thank you to Drs Leavitt and Beaver, the staff and volunteers of Braehaven and the Residential Care Unit at Lady Minto Hospital. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the ALS Society or a charity of your choice.
