It is with great sadness and cherished memories that our family announces the sudden passing of our Doug on December 21st, 2008.

He was predeceased by his devoted mother Stella. Doug will be forever loved and deeply missed by daughters Sarah (Jude) and Haidee (Josh), former wife and loving friend Anne, his father Archie, sisters Daphne (Tom) and Mary Grace (Richard), brothers David (former spouse Thelma) and Paul (Patty), sister-in-law Helen, brother-in-law Stafford, mother-in-law Jeanette, and father-in-law Bob (Lorraine), nephews: Chris (Shelley), Ryan (Susi), Craig (Candice), Andrew, Mat, Will, Davin and Patrick and nieces: Megan (Craig), Deborah (Tavis), Diana and Jenny, aunts: Mary, Lo, Elsie and Alice and many relatives and friends. Doug was a proud and much loved grandfather to Aliah, Noah, Jacob, Ben and Flynn. Throughout his life, Doug had a passion for and a close relationship with the sea and the land. Doug had a strong work ethic and was well respected as a skilled and masterful logger in British Columbia’s west coast forests. In Port Alberni, Bamfield and Salt Spring Island he was known for his expertise with tree work. Always a gentleman, Doug touched many people’s hearts and his memory will live on.

A celebration of Doug’s life will be held on Saturday, February 21st at 3:00pm at The Gatehouse on Stowel Lake Farm on Salt Spring Island.  Any family and friends who would like to jot down a story or picture about Doug, are invited to bring them to be included in a memoir for his grandchildren.
