Agnes Joyce HARRISON

Agnes Joyce Harrison

1923 – 2016

Joyce passed away on September 4, 2016 at Greenwoods Elder Care.

Joyce will be remembered for her generous heart, avid readership & good humour & especially her willingness to chuckle at herself.

Agnes Joyce Harrison (nee Lewin) was born in Liverpool, England, the only child of Frederick and Winifred Lewin. Living in the resort town of Colwyn Bay on the north coast of Wales Joyce acquired a love for the sea. As a child she experienced the war as a relocation to the countryside, later she joined the RAF as a WAF and drove trucks for the air force while being stationed on the Salisbury Plains. She met her husband, Len Harrison, and soon left post war England in 1954 to immigrate to Canada. She found herself pulling her children on a sled through the snow in the prairie city of Winnipeg. After her 4 children went out on their own she travelled with Leonard to The Pas, Manitoba and then to Saudi Arabia by the Persian Gulf and finally settled on Salt Spring Island in 1988.

May her body rest in peace, having lived a full and long life. May her soul be held in love for eternity and may her memory be held in the hearts of those who she loves and who love her.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at the Greenwoods Complex Care; Lady Minto Hospital & Heritage Place for Seniors. Your expertise, compassion and kindness brings dignity to the elder’s journey and comfort and peace of mind to their families. Thank-you.

A funeral service will be held at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church on Sept 17 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers please send condolences or a memorial donation to Greenwoods Eldercare Society or by using the link – www.haywardsfuneral.com
