NOEL DAVID HANCOCK

December 25, 1934 – June 11, 2009

Noel died with dignity on June 11, 2009 following a difficult period living with cancer.

Noel graduated in 1962 from the University of Manitoba School of Architecture. After a period living in Spain, he returned to Toronto and practiced architecture for many years, for which he was well-respected.

Noel settled on Salt Spring Island in the 80’s, where he made and sold candles at the market in Ganges. He continued with design projects.

He is survived by his son and daughter Tala and Myf, grandchildren Zak, Ella Mai, Elliot, Delilah and Quentin, a brother Charles who died 1997, a sister Margaret, 2 nieces, Anne and Marr, and a nephew Paul.

An informal memorial will be held at 2pm, Thursday, June 18, 2009 at Nettie Harland’s, 122 Swan Point Road, Salt Spring Island.

Donations may be made in Noel’s memory to the Bessie Dane Foundation and Hospice, Box 521 Ganges PO, Salt Spring Island, BC, V8K 2W2.
