January 20, 1920 – July 28, 2008
My Mother passed away peacefully in the early dawn after
a brief illness. Born and raised in England, she returned
on many occasions to visit with her sister Myrtle, family
members and friends. Following her service in WWII with
the British Forces she immigrated to Ontario, Canada.
Settling in Caledon, she established a successful horse
business and continued to be a celebrated rider. After a
change in life’s direction, Mum moved my brother Michael
(deceased in 2006) and I to Pender/Saltspring Island,
British Columbia. She enjoyed the island life and became
involved and well known in the communities. My wife (Karen),
daughter (Rachelle) and I were fortunate enough to
have Mum live on the same street in Black Creek, Vancouver
Island for the last nine wonderful years.
My mother will also be lovingly remembered and sadly
missed by grandchildren Christopher, Jessica, Jordan, as
well as relatives, friends and all those who knew her. Mum
lived everyday with a strong willed passion and concern
for everyone. She will be remembered for her wonderful
sense of humour and her unique perspective on life. May
we all be blessed to know a person like her; she will forever
be in our hearts and memories.
There are just not enough words to express how much I
will miss you Mum. All my love, your son Philip.
We gratefully acknowledge the special care given by Dr.
Ness and the 3rd fl oor staff at Campbell River Hospital.
There will not be a service as per her request.
