Arthur Charles HOWARD

Arthur Charles Howard

Nov. 25, 1937 – June 3, 2015

It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Art (Artie) Howard on June 3rd at Lady Minto Hospital after a brief illness. Artie was born November 25, 1937 in the old Lady Minto Hospital and was raised on Saltspring.

Art will be remembered by old neighbours and Islanders for his years of supplying farm products from the Cranberry Road farm. He will also be remembered by many for his butter churning demonstrations at Ruckle Farm Days and also for his love of sharing a good story. His long service to the Rod and Gun Club as the official game weigh in station at the farm, has gone down in the annals of time for his rigid attention to game inspection, the rules and meticulous record keeping.

Art never married or had children of his own, but will be sorely missed by his many nieces and nephews with whom he shared his love and knowledge of hunting, the farm and it’s many animals.

He is predeceased by his father George in 1951, mother Winnifred in 2007, sister Alice in 1945 and brother Herb in 2002.

Art is survived by his two sisters, Florence and Winifred and two brothers Fred and Dennis.

A heart felt appreciation to the Beacon Care team who gave Art such great care at home and to the Lady Minto Team who treated him as one of their family.

No formal services will be held at request.
