Rachel Jacobson is thrilled as an eagle she found unable to fly earlier this spring is released after receiving care from the Island Wildlife Natural Care Centre (IWNCC) on Salt Spring Island and the Wild Animal Rehabilitation Centre on Vancouver Island. Jacobson was offered the opportunity to open the cage door on release day. The female eagle was not injured when found, said Jacobson, but was dehydrated and underweight. She praised the efforts of staff and volunteers at both wildlife centres and urges people to support both.
