On October 10, 2012, Lena passed away peacefully in Victoria, BC. Born in Edmonton, AB on March 18, 1986 she moved to her beloved Salt Spring Island in January of 2003. She will be deeply missed by her Dad, Barry Long, her Mom, Jackie Berry, her Brother, Reid Long and her Sister, Amber Long (Brad, Jake, Cooper) as well as her Grandpa, Roy Laing, her Grandma, Norma Long, and her extended family, her Aunt Jacqueline Voit (Bill, Danielle, Matthew), her Uncles Larry Moore (Ofelia, Josh), David Laing (Connie, Carson, Caley, Austin, Pierce), Blair Laing (Sylvia, Aaron, Zach, Jaxon) and her special Auntie Anna Rodger. Lena was predeceased by her Grandmothers, Mary Laing and Florence Laing and her Uncle Charlie Rodger.

The puppies will also miss her loving attention, her dedicated Shadow, the princess Diamond, and the hilarious Pip.

Lena was a special woman who spent her life trying to help others and will be greatly missed by all of her friends who she cared for deeply.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Lena’s name to the Salt Spring Island Community Centre in support of assistance for people with addictions or the Island Women Against Violence in support of women and children at The Cedars.

A Celebration of Life will be held on October 21st, 2012 between 2pm and 4pm at the Harbour House Hotel. Please come and share a special memory, a picture, a song and her favorite places on Salt Spring Island.
