Eagle’s elevators out of service

Old ferries are not the only ones that have mechanical difficulties.

The elevators on the new Salish Eagle are out of service due to mechanical difficulties. “Specialized technicians have been engaged to determine the exact cause of the mechanical issue,” states a BC Ferries news release.

The passenger decks can only be accessed by stairs, which can mean a significant climb for people whose vehicles are loaded on the lowest deck. Washrooms are available on the vehicle decks.

The Salish Eagle went into service on June 21. One of its sister ships, Salish Raven, takes its maiden voyage today.
